Would you like to tell us something about you, your job, and the challenges you are facing in promoting digital inclusion?
April 10, 2020 at 8:49 am #3174Anna TsiboukliKeymasterWelcome!
The most important challenge is to change staff attitudes in promoting digital inclusion of socially vulnerable groups. It is important to share these experiences and understand the ground problems behind digital divide and dual exclusion.April 17, 2020 at 2:54 pm #4640MartaParticipantDo you think that there is not enough emphasis put on digital divide and there should be more raise- awareness campaigns?

April 17, 2020 at 4:43 pm #4661Anna TsiboukliKeymasterI think it is important to identify the gaps in digital inclusion and raise awareness at both policy and implementation level. Not everybody has equal access to internet resources or even computers.
July 2, 2020 at 3:30 pm #5776Dimitris DeligiannisParticipantI agree with Anna that it is important to identify the gaps in digital inclusion especially for the vulnerable groups. I am the Chairman of the City Council of Larissa (Greece) and we try a lot to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in city activities. The most of these activities are based on the philosophy of a Learning City and the majority of them are free. But this is not enough. We have to change, at first, the ideas, the culture of the stuff, how they understand the needs of the vulnerable groups. How they plan for them. And I must say that these efforts have a lot of surprises.
In the case of computer literacy courses to the elderly, it is noteworthy that at first we had only 15 applications. 6 months later more than 500 new applications were applied leading to the creation of 6 new classes. The elderly gained very useful computer skills that turned out necessary in the middle of the corona-virus crisis.September 10, 2020 at 12:12 pm #7597Anna TsiboukliKeymasterThis is a very significant development bur as Dimitris pointed out, when there is such a large need for training, you have to be prepared to offer access, train staff and make it possible especially at corona times to enhance digital skills.
